In preparation for our wedding in February, there are a few non-traditional things that have been on my list of things to evaluate. Sure, I'd like to get in better shape, and sure I'll be taking care of my skin but I'd also like to get rid of something that's haunted me since I was a kid- my glasses! I've had to wear glasses or contacts since I was very young, and to be honest it's the long hours at my eye doctor's office as a kid that sparked my interest in the profession.
My journey with contact lenses started in the fourth grade. I spent the majority of my free time in the dance studio and glasses were completely in the way. From that day forward, I completely relied on contacts and pretty much refused to wear glasses. But in the past few years, I've paid for my stubborn streak. My eyes are so dry now, and they burn like hell when I take off my contacts.
In about two weeks, this will all change. I'm getting LASIK, and the day can't come fast enough! For about a month now I've had to wear my glasses and it's completely made me appreciate how glasses can change your look.
I'll admit that it's not entirely our wedding that pressured me into LASIK, although it didn't hurt. It's more about my desire to get out of the nasty habit of contact lens overwear. I'll be the first to admit that in the past, I've worn contact lenses too much. Contacts were depriving my eyes of oxygen, which can lead to scarring and complications so I made some changes. It's also one of the most frequent reasons contact lenses are uncomfortable, and as many of us know annoying contacts can be a royal pain and can have the ability to easily ruin your day.
Prior to my LASIK consideration, I actually thought about wearing a pair of colored contacts on our wedding day. (Gasp here)... "But Miss Champagne, you mean you want to look like someone else on your wedding day?!"
No, no. Not crazy colored contacts, but contacts that subtly accent my natural eye color like these:

I'm thinking maybe the "Whiteout" to match our winter wedding theme.
Ok not really, but I do have naturally dark brown eyes, and the Acuvue2 "Honey" color just brightens my natural eyes a bit and I really love the way it looks with a smokey eye make-up application.

I also should say that I do think the glasses look is adorable, and if it really fits your personality it can look so good on your wedding day. Miss Candycorn posted a while ago about how she'll be rockin the frames, and I actually thought twice about my decision to go forward with the LASIK when I saw how good it looked on other brides. I considered the options, and I figured to go for it! So in about two weeks, I'll be glasses/contact lens freeeee!
What are the changes you've made that will improve your daily life before the big day? Anyone else have LASIK or consider it?
